Rahul Ram is a musician and member of the acclaimed fusion band – Indian Ocean, and also a stand-up artist with Aisi Taise Democracy that dishes out daily news with satire, jokes and comedy. He identifies as an environmentalist. His environmentalism was triggered by a two week stint walking around the Garhwal Himalayas under the guidance of Sunderlal Bahuguna, and his joining a young people’s environmental action group called Kalpavriksh.  Rahul looks at the environment through a social lens. He did his PhD in Environmental Toxicology at Cornell University, and then spent 5 years as an activist with the Narmada Bachao Andolan. He is a strong believer in environmental education and spreading awareness about environmental issues through music. He is currently working on doing a concert with A R Rehman to spread awareness about climate change, which he feels is THE primary challenge confronting humanity today, and forces us to reexamine our paradigms of development to bring it in line with sustainability.
